New York, NY– The 2014 Tony Award® winner for Best Musical, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, has shattered the Walter Kerr Theatre’s house record for highest single-week gross, taking in $1,062,740.60 over eight (8) performances during the week ending December 28, 2014. (The previous record was set by A Little Night Music, starring Catherine Zeta Jones and Angela Lansbury, with $1,031,543 over eight performances, for the week ending January 3, 2010.) This also marks the production’s first entry into Broadway’s ‘Million Dollar Club’ since opening in October 2013 to universal acclaim. A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder—no stranger to milestones in 2014—just recently celebrated its First Anniversary on Broadway, broke the cumulative box office record for the Walter Kerr Theatre, and received a 2015 Grammy Award nomination for its Original Cast Recording.

A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder is the winner of four 2014 Tony® Awards including Best Musical, Direction of a Musical (Darko Tresnjak), Book of a Musical (Robert L. Freedman), and Costume Design of a Musical (Linda Cho). It was the 2013-14 season’s most nominated production with 10 Tony® Award nominations overall, including dual Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical nominations (Jefferson Mays and Bryce Pinkham), Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical (Lauren Worsham), Original Score (Music and/or Lyrics) Written for the Theatre (music: Steven Lutvak; lyrics: Robert L. Freedman, Steven Lutvak), Orchestrations (Jonathan Tunick), and Scenic Design of a Musical (Alexander Dodge).
A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder officially opened at the Walter Kerr Theatre (219 W. 4th Street) to overwhelmingly rapturous reviews on Sunday, November 17, 2013, following critically acclaimed, smash-hit runs at The Hartford Stage and San Diego’s Old Globe Theatre. It has gone on to become the most nominated and honored production of the 2013-14 Broadway season, winning the Tony, the Drama Desk, the Drama League, and the Outer Critics Circle awards for Best Musical.
A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder stars Tony® Award winner Jefferson Mays and Bryce Pinkham, Lisa O'Hare, Catherine Walker and Carole Shelley, with Pamela Bob, Sandra DeNise, Joanna Glushak, Greg Jackson, Eddie Korbich, Jeff Kready, Mark Ledbetter, Jennifer Smith, Kathy Voytko, and Price Waldman.
A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder features a book and lyrics by Robert L. Freedman, music and lyrics by Steven Lutvak. Direction is by Darko Tresnjak, with choreography by Peggy Hickey.
