New York, NY – (2/17/10) Producers Scott Morfee, Jean Doumanian and Tom Wirtshafter have announced the latest arrival to Grover’s Corners: Oscar Nominee Michael Shannon (Revolutionary Road) will assume the role of ‘The Stage Manager’ in David Cromer’s acclaimed production of Thornton Wilder’s Our Town, beginning February 23rd at the Barrow Street Theatre. Stephen Kunken (ENRON, Frost/Nixon) continues in the role through February 19th.

The New York production of Our Town began performances on February 17, 2009, with an official opening night on February 26, 2009 where it received rave reviews at the downtown venue (whose space has been completely redesigned for this staging). Our Town went on to win the Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Production and Outstanding Direction and Obie Award for Outstanding Director. This current staging of Our Town enters its second year on February 26th and became the longest-running production of the play in its 72-year history with its record-breaking 337th performance on December 16, 2009.

Michael Shannon (“Stage Manager”) was nominated for an Academy Award for his supporting role in Revolutionary Road, based on the revealing novel by Richard Yates, adapted by Justin Haythe, directed by Sam Mendes and featured film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet and Kathy Bates. In 2009, he was also seen in the lead role in Noah Buschel’s The Missing Person, co-starring Amy Ryan and Frank Wood; in the lead role in Werner Herzog’s My Son, My Son What Have ‘Ye Done?; completed production onShana Feste’s The Greates; and Werner Herzog’s Bad Lieutenant. This year, he will be seen in The Runaways opposite Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning; 13 opposite Mickey Rourke and Jason Statham; and Jonah Hex opposite Josh Brolin and Megan Fox.

Shannon is currently in production on Terence Winter’s and Martin Scorsese’s Boardwalk Empire, HBO’s look at the history of Atlantic City and the rise of organized crime set for Fall 2010.
