In Masks Outrageous And Austere

In Masks Outrageous And Austere

Nothing less than a major theatrical event, In Masks Outrageous And Austere is the final full length play by one of the world’s most significant dramatists, in its Premiere at Culture Project in New York City.  In the play, Tennessee Williams (1911-1983) continues to explore the passionate obsessions that made him famous in the early masterworks —the impenetrability of the human heart, the futility and hypocrisy of denying or displacing physical attraction, the power of love and its tyranny—while employing the dramaturgical freedom and aesthetic daring he discovered in his later plays.  And all of this he does with the provocative wit and lyricism that was his hallmark. Directed by David Schweizer, In Masks Outrageous And Austere begins performances on Friday, April 6, with an official opening night on Monday, April 16.
