Labyrinth Theater Company
Raucous. Vital. Real. Since 1992. Labyrinth Theater Company (Artistic Directors Mimi O’Donnell, Stephen Adly Guirgis, Yul Vázquez) was founded by a group of actors who wanted to create new theater relevant to their own experiences, and the collaborative spirit of this original ensemble is the foundation of the Company’s enduring multicultural and multidisciplinary ethic. Labyrinth today comprises 115 emerging and established artists from a wide array of cultural perspectives. The Company is committed to serving diverse audiences by challenging artists to create compelling original theater that reflects the true face of its home city. In the last 18 years, Labyrinth has won multiple awards and nominations for its work, has developed hundreds of original theater pieces, and has premiered 53 new American plays here in New York.
Most recently represented on Broadway with The Motherf**ker with the Hat by Stephen Adly Guirgis starring Bobby Canavale, Chris Rock, Elizabeth Rodgriquez, Annabella Sciorra and Yul Vázquez at the The Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre. The Motherf**ker with the Hat was nominted for multiple Tony Awards, including Best Play, Best Actor in a Play, Best Featured Actor in a Play and Best Featured Actress in a Play. Ninth and Joanie, a new play written by Brett C. Leonard and directed by Mark Wing-Davey, is currently playing Bank Street Theater (155 Bank Street).
