New York Stage and Film

Founded in 1985 by Producing Directors Mark Linn-Baker, Max Mayer and Leslie Urdang, and now under the leadership of Artistic Director Johanna Pfaelzer, New York Stage and Film is a not-for-profit company dedicated to the development and production of exciting new works for theater and film. Among the impressive list of collaborators: renowned playwrights such as John Patrick Shanley, Richard Greenberg, Jon Robin Baitz, Theresa Rebeck, and Eve Ensler; musical theater impresarios Lin-Manuel Miranda, Michael Mayer, Michael Greif, Christopher Gatelli, Stephen Flaherty, and many others. The Powerhouse Theater Summer Season, NYSF’s annual collaboration with Vassar College, celebrated its 30th Anniversary in 2014. The Powerhouse Season is an eight-week intensive residency on the Vassar campus that brings together 250 professional artists and apprentices who live and work together to create new theater works.
