New York Stage and Film
Founded in 1985 by Producing Directors Mark Linn-Baker, Max Mayer and Leslie Urdang, and now under the leadership of Artistic Director Johanna Pfaelzer, New York Stage and Film is a not-for-profit company dedicated to the development and production of exciting new works for theater and film. Among the impressive list of collaborators: renowned playwrights such as John Patrick Shanley, Richard Greenberg, Jon Robin Baitz, Theresa Rebeck, John Guare, and Eve Ensler; musical theater impresarios Lin-Manuel Miranda, Michael Mayer, Michael Greif, Christopher Gatelli, Stephen Flaherty, Duncan Sheik, Michael John LaChiusa and many others. 2015 celebrates the 31st Powerhouse Theater Summer Season, NYSF’s annual collaboration with Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY. The Powerhouse Season is an eight-week intensive residency on the Vassar campus that brings together over 250 professional artists and apprentices who live and work together to create new theater works. In 2015, NYSF introduced the Filmmakers' Workshop – an eight day immersive creative development and mentorship program for early-career screenwriters and directors.
